The Journey of Vanga Shravanth Reddy

From a Penthouse Lab to India’s Sound Pioneer

2008 – The Beginning of a Passion

Every great journey starts with curiosity—and often, with frustration.
For Vanga Shravanth Reddy, it began in 2008 when his passion for music clashed with the reality of the poor-quality amplifiers and speakers available in the market. As an audiophile who longed for purity in sound, he found himself disheartened. Rather than settling for mediocrity, he asked a question that changed the course of his life: “What if I could build something better?”

That question ignited a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Shravanth began studying the science of sound reproduction, acoustic principles, and electronic circuits. What started as frustration turned into a lifelong mission—to engineer sound the way it was meant to be heard.

2009 – Hands-On Learning and Experimentation

Passion soon met practice.
In 2009, Shravanth transformed a modest 14' x 14' penthouse room into his first audio lab, a space filled with components, soldering irons, and notebooks full of circuit diagrams. Here, he immersed himself in legendary amplifier designs:

  • Bob Cordell – master of ultra-low distortion high-fidelity amplifiers.

  • Marshall Leach – creator of the iconic Leach Amp, a project that shaped DIY audio culture.

  • Randy Slone – pioneer in low-distortion, high-performance amplifier circuits.

  • Elliott Sound Products – respected for practical, high-quality amplifier designs.

By building, testing, and refining these circuits, Shravanth not only learned electronics—he learned the language of sound. Each resistor, transistor, and capacitor became part of a larger story: his journey toward mastering the art of amplification.

2011 – Speaker Design and Custom Builds

Once he understood how to make amplifiers sing, Shravanth turned his attention to the other half of the audio chain: speakers.

He began designing and handcrafting speakers for audio enthusiasts, tailoring them to specific needs. Using premium drivers from Peerless India, Dayton Audio, SEAS, and other renowned brands, he built:

  • Compact bookshelf speakers with remarkable clarity.

  • Towering floor-standing speakers for immersive sound.

  • Active speakers with integrated amplification.

  • Powerful active subwoofers for deep, controlled bass.

Each build was more than a product—it was an experiment in acoustics, crossover design, cabinet tuning, and real-world performance. These early creations refined his skills and proved one thing: Shravanth had the craftsmanship and vision to shape the future of Indian high-fidelity audio.

2012 – The Birth of Eight Audio®

By 2012, what began as a passion project evolved into something bigger.
Shravanth officially launched Eight Audio® as a sole proprietorship—a brand born out of determination and love for sound.

Eight Audio quickly became a name associated with premium DIY audio in India. That same year, Shravanth became the official distributor of Jantzen Audio components, bringing world-class capacitors, inductors, and resistors to Indian enthusiasts.

His collaboration with SB Acoustics marked a turning point. Using their drivers, he designed high-performance DIY speaker kits, which were sold online at www.eightaudio.in, giving audiophiles across India access to professional-grade sound at home.

2013 – 2016: Expansion into Custom Audio Solutions

Word of mouth spread fast. Between 2013 and 2016, Eight Audio was no longer just about DIY speakers—it became a trusted partner for custom audio installations. Shravanth and his team designed and installed audio solutions for:

  • Gyms and fitness centers that needed energetic, powerful sound.

  • Restaurants and cafés looking for warm, ambient music systems.

  • Home stereo setups and home theaters for discerning music lovers.

  • Commercial audio projects demanding durability and clarity.

To enhance product reliability, Shravanth sourced high-end Nichicon capacitors from Singapore for his amplifiers and electronics.

During this time, he also invested in his own education. He completed a Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering (2014) and later formal training in Sound Engineering. This not only taught him how music is recorded, mixed, and mastered—it gave him the knowledge to design systems that could faithfully reproduce that experience. He also trained in acoustic treatment, a skill that would later define Eight Audio’s home theater solutions.

2015 – Recognition as The Youngest Entrepreneur

The hard work didn’t go unnoticed. In 2015, The Hans India honored Shravanth as the Youngest Entrepreneur in the high-fidelity audio industry.

At a time when India’s audio market was still maturing, this recognition validated his pioneering efforts. By then, Shravanth had already built a reputation as someone who could design and manufacture custom speakers and amplifiers that stood shoulder to shoulder with international standards.

2017 – Investing in R&D and New Technologies

Armed with experience and earnings from Eight Audio, Shravanth reinvested everything into research and development.

He purchased high-end testing equipment like the Keithley Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) Meter and Tektronix Oscilloscope, tools that allowed him to perfect amplifier circuits with scientific precision.

Some key innovations during this phase included:

  • Building his first Class D amplifiers using TDA8920B and TPA3116 chips.

  • Designing multiple Class AB amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, and active filters.

  • Handcrafting air-core inductors to improve crossover performance.

  • Developing Bluetooth-enabled Class D amplifiers using CSR8645 modules.

With his father’s support, operations moved into a 2,500 sq. ft. workspace, complete with storage, office space, and a dedicated listening room. For the first time, Eight Audio could produce commercial speakers and amplifiers on a larger scale—without losing its DIY spirit.

2018 – The First Commercial Home Theater Project

In 2018, Eight Audio completed its first professional home theater project. Equipped with custom-designed speakers, amplifiers, and professional acoustic treatment, this project was a milestone—it marked Eight Audio’s transition into the home theater solutions market.

At the same time, the company expanded into:

  • OEM manufacturing for other brands.
